The case side construction

Case-side projection along the spine of a Neapolitan harpsichord

This is a view of the baseboard of the 'Celestini' harpsichord in the Gemeentemuseum in the Hague (Catalogue Nš 1933.0543) which has been attributed by me to Onofrio Guarracino.  The instrument has been turned up-side-down to take the photograph which shows a short section near the bentside.  The foreground shows the baseboard, and the top part of the photograph shows the bentside case side and the bentside lower outer moulding.  The double-headed arrow indicates the projection of the edges of the case side and lower moulding beyond the surface of the baseboard.  This is a feature, not just of the instruments of Guarracino, but of many of the instruments made in Naples.
