Advantages

1. Makes efficient use of the space in the building.
2. Greatly increases the number of infectious diseases beds including two separate children’s beds.
3. Separates the maternity from the infectious diseases wards.

Disadvantages

1. Beds in the male and female wards are directly below window openings.
2. Does not permit privacy to maternity patients nor ante-natal patients who would be located in the main clinic building.
