Julius Zulu - college sponsorship

Report made by Johnny and Grant June 2008:

Sponsor:  Peter and Angie Davie

Attending NIPA College in Lusaka.

He says he is doing OK.  Starts exams on Monday 16 June and will finish on June 23.  On 24 June he will return to Mfuwe for 2 weeks.  He then re-starts on July 16 and continues to Dec.  He will send his marks when he returns in July.

          Generally he has done OK.

A problem is that he ran out of money near the end of this semester, so we gave him 500 pin to see him through to the end of the semester and to give him enough money to go back to Mfuwe and return to Lusaka.

He is living in the accommodation at NIPA College and shares with 2 others.  He has electricity.  Has access to library.  He is worried that his quarters are not safe because others have access to the room and to Julius’ possessions and books some of which he has had stolen in the past.  One of his college friends had all his money, books and clothing stolen leaving him with nothing.  So security is a real worry for Julius and he thinks it might be a better bargain to spend more on accommodation so that he could cook independently and live securely without the risk of all his possessions being stolen and his stocks being raided.  In fact it is because his stocks of food are 'disappearing' at present  and this is the reason that his money ran out - he had to replace the stolen food.  He seems to have lost quite a bit of weight, but looks perfectly well.
