In a note from Robson, who is a nephew of Jeff Phiri, a waiter at Chichele Lodge, and of William and Abraham Phiri who work for Kapani Lodge, he wrote:

REF: ASSISTANCE FOR SCHOLARSHIP

Dear Grant,

With much thanks of writting this this letter to you there. I hoping you are doing fine back to me also fine. I am a boy aged 15 years old. I was born in 1992. I started my education at Yoseffe Basic school in 1999, therefore both of my parents are so poor of which they did nothing since I started grade one, and since I started doing grade one until grade seven I have never put into uniform due to the porrness and to make the matters [worse] one of my parents to the side of my father passed out or died in the year of 1997 meaning that I am an orphan, therefore, fortunately I did well in the exam of grades seven and I passed at the same school. also some years ago I was also doing well. Since I saw my acceptance letter same day you came to Jeff's Village on 04/01/07 I decided to write the scholarship letter to you. First to see my acceptance marks that I got was 645 while the cuting point was 600 marks, for this is was told to buy the following items such as: pens, books, one pair of shoes, two pairs of uniforms, school bug, slashar, school fees. One rim of paper and many more. I will record the prices of the items I mention above at the end of this scholarShip letter. These are the items I has been told to buy before the date of opening day but now the opening day over two weeks ago. I will be very happy if you are going to sponsor me until to complete school and afterward. My best Subjects are maths and English, these subjects are the subjects that I feel good. After Completing the education I want to go to university of Zambia (UNZA) to deal with the course of accountant as my official Job and having a very good employment. And also I want to visit you like the way you visit us is what I am looking for to be like you. No I want to write what I has said about the prices of the items.
